Darriel From the Bronx

 

Darriel McBride is an entrepreneur, writer, spoken word artist, and motivational speaker from the South Bronx. She graduated from Marist College with a Bachelors in English Writing. She is a U.S Fulbright Alumni, Gates Millennium Scholar, John Lewis Fellowship Alumni, and NBCUniversal Page Program Alum. Darriel’s work can be found in the Bronx Native Writer’s Anthology, Into the Void, LUNA Magazine, We Are Antifa, Sad Girls Club Literary Blog, the Bronx Memoir Project Anthology Vol V, and the Black Superwoman Chronicles. In 2018, Darriel taught English in South Africa. In 2020, she was a Frost Place Conference on Poetry participant. As of 2021, she completed the Writers’ Access Support Staff Training Program sponsored by The Writers Guild Foundation, the DEAR Fellowship program for artists, and made it onto Urban Arts Magazine’s 2022 40 Under 40 in the Arts List. She is the author of the"The Ghetto Youth Handbook'' poetry book. Outside of poetry, Darriel is an absolute travel junkie who enjoys studying astrology.
